This vase has a round mouth, a short straight neck, and a round and large belly. The mouth of the vase is painted with a circle of scroll grass pattern, and the belly is a blue and white seawater dragon pattern, which is magnificent. The blue and white color is bright, with appropriate shades, and has the charm of an ink painting.

The "celestial globe vase" is a porcelain shape deeply influenced by Western Asian culture. It was first fired in the Jingdezhen kiln during the Yongle period of the Ming Dynasty. It was more popular during the Xuande period. Most of the blue and white porcelains were fired. The vase is shaped like a sphere with a large round belly, a false ring foot, and a slightly concave sand bottom.                    Source: Canadian private collection
